Join Visionary Artist Shiloh Sophia McCloud
and writer Mary MacDonald
for an online painting and writing workshop honoring the Black Madonna.
Each woman will paint and interpret Her for themselves.
No painting experience needed! (REALLY) Just a desire to paint and a willingness to connect with your personal iconography, as well as experience traditional iconography of the Black Madonna.
The Black Madonna Course includes:

Three one hour conference calls.

Creation of an Original Painting of the Black Madonna , through instructional step-by-step videos featuring Visionary Artist Shiloh Sophia McCloud

Writing Prompts for poetry and story-telling from Stella Mac

Creative online Community and private "Classroom" at the Cosmic Cowgirls University Online Campus.
Time Commitment: Suggested two 1 hour conference calls. Plus 4 hours per week on painting practices and 15 minutes per day journaling and writing.
Requirements: Access to phone and internet, computer, acrylic paints and somewhere to set up your painting studio!
Materials: 16X20 canvas, acrylic paints*, brushes, journal

There are many legends and stories about the Black Madonna from all over the world! The emphasis of this course is not based on one particular Madonna, or one particular image - she may be brown, gold, blue or magenta for you! The black images of her are invitation for all of us to consider our mother, differently than we may have in the past. For her to appeal to all people from all traditions and skins. The image used in the painting demonstrations is based on the Virgen de Guadalupe but you can draw from any image of her that you are drawn to!!
Please note: Women from all faiths are welcome and invited. However some Wisdom scripture is used, prayers to the Virgin Mary and connections with the Christ child explored. So if you allergic to Jesus and Mary...this is not for you. If you are open to exploring this realm, join us!

On the connection part to the Black Madonna, amazing things have happened, I can’t even describe. My daughters and I now have made a commitment to go every Mother’s day to take her flowers, and I’m on my way to take my mom to the Vatican!! (long story). FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BLACK MADONNA COURSE
Q: “I am really interested in the painting the black madonna course, but I live in [Jerusalem] and I think our time difference is a little crazy...so my question is, how could it work to do the course regardless of this time difference...”
A: “We’re so delighted that you found us all the way from [Jerusalem]! The Black Madonna course is designed so that you can do it at your own pace (and your own time zone). There are three main parts to the course - (1) a series of videos which are released over the course of the four weeks and are available for viewing 24 hours a day, (2) an online private “classroom” with the community of women in the course (just as with email, there’s no need to be ‘real time’ in your interactions in the campus.) and (3) two conference calls which are both recorded - so, although obviously enjoyable, there's no need to attend them real time. I see no reason why you can’t participate in the Black Madonna course in your own timezone!
